Matrimony

“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament”

Catechism of the Catholic Church CCC 1601

Marriage is a Sacrament of Mission in the Church. In this Sacrament God unites a man and woman in a faithful, life-giving, and exclusive bond. Married love is called to reflect God's love as revealed to us in the Scriptures.

Marriage is probably the most important decision of your life.

Your lifelong union is based on the free consent and solemn promise of love, which you, Bride and Groom, give to and receive from each other. Your consent is witnessed and blessed by the Church on your Wedding Day.

You should prepare and plan for your Marriage with great care and with thought ahead of time.

Getting Married at our Parish – What You Should Do First:

Before you book anything you should make an appointment to see Fr Etienne. At least 6 months notice is required to allow for the necessary paperwork and marriage preparation to be completed. Also, this is essential to ensure nothing else is in the Parish diary on the day you may have your heart set on.

The Registry Office will also require you to inform them of your intention to marry anytime 12 months before the date. They will issue you now with a marriage schedule which you should give immediately to the priest.
